Dorothy Reed

President

Dorothy has been a FOSS board member since 2013, and has served as Board President since 2017. She has over 40 years of experience in the Federal Government and public service. Dorothy oversaw a one million dollar expansion program at her church, Strangest Rest Baptist Church. The experience introduced her to the work of FOSS and sparked a desire to see more sacred structures revitalized in Kansas City. Dorothy enjoys spending time with her son and two granddaughters.

 
 
 

Dan Robeson

Vice president

Dan is a native of Kansas City, and has been a FOSS board member since 2011.  Dan retired from successful career as a Branch Manager, Regional Manager and Corporate Sales with Yellow Freight. After retirement he went back to school and developed skills in Construction Design, AutoCAD, Architecture and more spent 9 years doing home remodeling,  and 3 years working with the Hoefer Wysocki Architecture firm. Dan is married to wife Sherri, and has two children and three grandchildren.

Cynthia Ammerman

Cynthia joined the FOSS board in 2018. She brings a long list of experience related to cultural planning, historic preservation, and fundraising to the board. Cynthia is currently the Executive Director at the Cass County Historical Society, the Principal and Owner at Polis:Cultural Planning, and the Executive Director of the Kansas City Latin Jazz Orchestra. Cynthia’s passion for preservation and advocacy are a great addition to the board.

Chris Larson

Chris is the Vice President of Strategic Development at Lifewise Renovations. Chris has invested over 20 years of his life in the construction industry working with both Business to Consumer and Business to Business focused organizations. Chris is delighted to serve on the FOSS board and share his expertise to help churches in need. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his kids in sports, and especially loves dinner out with his wife. 

 
 
 

John McKeever

John is a native of Kansas City, and brings experience in business development and management to the FOSS board. John worked in the grocery business for most of his professional career, starting as a produce manager, and ultimately owning the “Buy Rite” store in Paola, Kansas. John’s two sons – with his guidance – launched the Shop Rite Group in Kansas City. After beginning with two stores, the Group now consists of 53 stores. In addition to supporting FOSS, John continues to serve his community through service on several boards: Associated Grocery, First National Bank in Louisburg, and the Baptist-Trinity Hospital Foundation.

Joanie Shields

Joanie is the Founder of FOSS, and has served on the board since 1992. In  addition to a profession career in retail, marketing, and small business ownership, Joanie has volunteered with numerous organizations. Some include the Historic Kansas City Foundation, City of Fountains Foundation, Daughters of the American Revolution, Starlight Theatre,  the Junior League of Kansas City, and more. Joanie has three daughters and five grandchildren.

Tom Slezak

Tom is a native of Kansas City, and a graduate of Rockhurst High School and the University of Kansas. He has a background in sales, marketing, and managements, and currently works in the large real estate group at Reece Nichols.  Tom is a member of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection and is involved in various ministries including Habitat, Reach, Restore, and works with special needs adults. Tom is married to wife Diane, and has two children and four grandsons.

Mary Wiggins

Mary has been a FOSS board member since 2006, and also serves in various capacities on local church boards and community outreach groups. She has a passion for community development and neighborhood sustainability. Mary has a background in journalism, and taught English in the Shawnee Mission School District. Mary has lived in Kansas City for 50 years, has two sons, and three grandsons.
